Guiyang orphanage, Guizhou province

Guiyang is a large city orphanage with a total of about 300 babies and children, many with special needs.  There are 66 girls and boys aged 7 to 18 years old at this facility.  The director of this SWI is very dedicated to helping the children receive an education and prepare for their futures, but she does not have adequate funding.  The LOOK Project was able to assist her with purchasing the following items that were requested by the orphanage for the older children.

Physical Needs:                                                                                                                                                -  winter clothes and shoes for all 66 older children                                                 Educational/Training Needs:                                                                                                                          -  backpacks to assist the 28 older children who are aged 13 - 18 with carrying their books    -  10 bicycles for older children to ride to school because otherwise they must walk.

These items were delivered to the beautiful children of Guiyang at a total cost of $2,097.50.  We were told that the children laughed and cried with joy when they received their new bicycles and coats.  Pictures of the children of Guiyang SWI with their gifts from LOOK's wonderful donors and fundraisers can be found on the "Pictures" main page of this website.
